Greetings from MIM!

The month of June saw the launch of the much sought after MIM Job of General Management (MIM JOGM) programme on 16 - 20 June 2008 at Awana Golf & Country Resort. This inaugural programme by MIM was successfully attended by general managers and senior managers from various industries. This action learning workshop was specially designed to enhance management and leadership skills of general managers focusing on producing results through personal management development, strategic business and change management framework. The next MIM JOGM will be conducted in the second half of 2008 from 10-14 November. Watch out for the next intake.

On 10 June, MIM launched the National Annual of Corporate Report Awards 2008 (NACRA) themed "Towards Accountability and Excellence". NACRA is Malaysia's most esteemed award in recognition of excellence in annual corporate reporting. Organised annually with the joint commitment of the four organising bodies - Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and Bursa Malaysia Berhad. NACRA has become the benchmark for excellence in corporate reporting. It recognises and highlights the importance of good financial reporting.

With the MIM SMIDEC Skills Upgrading Programmes SMIDEC also informed on an increase of the training grant for eligible SMEs from 50% to 80%. This will serve the impetus for Malaysian SMEs to enhance their skills and knowledge through the management development programmes offerings from MIM to improve their competencies.

The MIM-Public Bank Manager of the Year (MOYA) 2008 Awards is on to its second year. MIM invites applications for nominations of candidates for the 2008 Awards.

As part of MIM's corporate social responsibility effort, the MIM Managers Renewal Programme (MIM-THORA) programme will be held from 21 - 26 July 2008. This programme is for mid-career individuals in the age group 36 - 45 years. Invitation to participate is invited.

As we move into the second half of 2008, MIM looks forward to delivering more to our members and the public in enhancing human capital and SMEs training and development to increase Malaysia workforce competencies and competitiveness.
