Season Greetings and Welcome to 2009!

December has come to an end and looking back, MIM is proud of 2008 and looking forward to a positive and successful 2009. Despite the expected economic slowdown, MIM is certain that there are opportunities in adversity and will continue to deliver our best in management training and development to promote management leadership.

In the final quarter of 2008, MIM organised the 5th MIM Life Enrichment Programme 2008 (MIM-RAMLEA) in October. 32 RAMLEANs completed the programme with added knowledge and renewed spirit to reinvent their life after retirement.

MIM together with the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) organised the annual MIM-MPC CEO Forum in conjunction with the launching of the MIM-MPC Malaysian Capability Index (MCI) Report 2008. The forum was graced by YB Tan Sri Dato’ Muhyiddin Yassin, Minister of International Trade and Industry.

In November, MIM in collaboration with Khind Holdings organised the MIM-Khind Human Capital Management (HCM) Forum 2008. The speakers for the forum were Mr Cheng Ping Keat, Group CEO, Khind and Puan Suriahni, Human Resource Development, DiGi, who shared with the audience on the best practices of Khind and DiGi in developing, retaining and rewarding performance excellence. The concurrent session speakers were Dr Wilson Tay, CEO of MIM, Mr Kevin Tan, and Pn Norani Ahmad who are MIM Certified Professional Trainers; they presented on Effective Training Needs Analysis, Harrison Assessment Profiling on Talent Management and Talent Management for Succession Planning respectively.

November also saw the second successful run of the MIM Job of General Manager (MIM JOGM) programme attended by general managers and senior managers from various industries. We invite managers and senior managers who are in need of senior management development to participate in this new MIM JOGM programme.

On 14 November, MIM together with the Star Publications (M) Berhad organised the MIM-Star-Jobs Management Leadership Forum 2008. It was a sharing and exchange session on key concerns, trends and factors influencing present and future workplace. Forum speakers were Dr Wilson Tay, CEO of MIM and Mr Douglas Weidner, Chairman, Knowledge Management Institute, who shared with the audience their insights on the "Secret Code of Management Leadership" and "Leadership in the Knowledge Age" respectively.

On 19 November, MIM together with Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) organised the annual National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) Presentation Ceremony. More than 600 attendees gathered together to witness the presentation of the NACRA 2008. The Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, YB Tuan Jelaing Anak Mersat officiated the event and presented the Challenge Trophies and Awards to the Winners of the NACRA 2008.

In the final event of the year, MIM together with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) conducted the MIM-KAS Evaluation Workshop 2008 on 22 November which was attended by past participants of MIM's three social and community development programmes which are MIM Youth Leadership Development Programmes (MIM-TRYLA), MIM Managers' Renewal Programme (MIM-THORA) and MIM Life Enrichment Programme (MIM-RAMLEA).
