For
graduate, Loo May Kwan, her recent graduation was cause for more than just a celebration
- it was reason for a double celebration. Not only did she graduate as top student in
Universiti Putra Malaysia's (UPM) Faculty of Economics and Management for the
2004-2004 sessions, she also won the coveted Academic Award given by Malaysian Institute
of Management (MIM). The RM500 Academic Award is awarded to the graduate of UPM's
Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme, who has achieved the best overall
performance.
In a letter to MIM, Associate Professor Dr Samsinar Md Sidin, Deputy Dean for Academic and
Graduate Affairs at the Faculty of Economics and Management had this to say of MIM's
contribution, "This (MIM Academic) Award
serves as an inspiration and dream for students enrolled on the BBA programme, motivating
them to strive for academic excellence."
The annual Award is a part of the Institute's contribution towards nation building
through the nurturing of potential business leaders at an early age, preparing them for
the corporate world. "This (Award) will,
hopefully, encourage students to not only excel academically but also in whatever field
they might choose for their career" , said Mr Foo Sheh Loon, Chief Executive
of MIM in his reply.
