MIM Hosts Lecture of the Year

Kuala Lumpur - The Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) hosted over 800 corporate and government leaders, foreign dignitaries and distinguished individuals at the 23^rd Tunku Abdul Rahman Lecture by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad last night.

"The Tunku Abdul Rahman Lecture series was introduced on the eve of the retirement of YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, our first Prime Minister, in recognition of his great services to the nation" said Tun Haji Mohammed Hanif Omar, MIM President, in his address. "To commemorate the courage, freedom seeking and nation building characteristics of the premiership of Bapa Malaysia, the main criterion for the Lecture is that it be of world class standard and truly at the forefront of thought leadership." Organising Chairman Dato' Dr Mohamed Munir Abdul Majid described Tun Dr Mahathir as the proponent and exemplar of the Malaysia Incorporated concept. "From a long list of eminent speakers, the Organising Committee singled out one key person to speak with credibility and authority on the topic we chose for this year's Lecture. This person is Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Honorary Fellow of MIM."

Preserving 35 years of tradition, Tun Dr Mahathir was presented with the TAR Lecture medallion after concluding his lecture. The night ended with the presentation of the book "Managing Malaysia", published by MIM in conjunction with the Tunku Abdul Rahman Lecture series. The book encapsulates lectures by various outstanding personalities on a wide plethora of issues on business and management challenges in Malaysia.
