"Education & Training Harmonized" was a befitting conference theme as Malaysia braces itself for the next transformational leap - a demanding feat that would require the entire range and capacity of competencies the nation is able to harness from its human capital through the synergistic alignment between the education and training sectors.
Chairing the pre-conference session for CEOs was Dr Wilson Tay, Chief Executive Officer of MIM, who presided over a distinguished panel of four CEOs from renowned organisations with extensive experience in managing their vast pool of human talents to discuss "Achieving Business Results and Superior Performance in a Competitive Global Environment through Human Capital Development - The
Challenges for Industry". The four CEOs comprise Rajah Kumar of Philips, Rainer Althoff of Siemens, Datuk Mohd Sidik Shaik Osman of Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) and Datuk Ahmad Pardas Senin of the United Engineers Malaysia (UEM) Group.
Dr Wilson Tay was also a member of a four-man panel, representing the training sector in a dynamic dialogue session with participants on the last day of the event. The session, referred to as The Grand Forum, explored issues behind the links (or the lack of these links) and collaboration between academia and industry in effectively developing and training human capital. The other speakers on the
panel included Bob Morton (UK), Prof Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad Bajunid and Prof Michael J Marquardt (US).
The IFTDO World Conference Series aims to develop and maintain a worldwide knowledge network that identifies, develops and transfers knowledge, skills and technology to enhance human performance, productivity and sustainable development.
