MIM Trainers Summit 2006 was a joint effort by the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and Specialist Management Resource (SMR). Both organisations worked together as partners to deliver the best in management training to all valued customers. The purpose for this MIM Trainers summit was to create a networking opportunity for trainers and to introduce trainers to new and refreshing
developments in the field of Human Capital Development. In addition, MIM Trainers summit also helped trainers network, share experiences and improve the performance of their organisations.

The MIM Trainers Summit 2006 theme for this year was "Tools, Trends & Practices". The theme was broken into a number of specific aspects called "learning tracks". This one-day event, which was skewed towards a Christmas theme, attracted more than 100 participants and it was held at the Auditorium of MIM.
A remarkable speaker from Philippines Mr. Franco del Rosario, Managing Consultant, of Six Sigma Consulting, was here to share on 'Raising the Standards in Training'. Mr. Franco is a corporate culture specialist working with companies on leveraging corporate culture as a competitive advantage that facilitate winning deals for the company. He is also the 2006 Vice President of the Management
Association of the Philippines (MAP), chairman of the MAP Programmes Committee and the MAP Membership Committee. |
Other speakers who amused the crowd were Dr. Palan, Executive Chairman of SMR, Dr. Wilson Tay, Chief Executive Officer of MIM, Ms. Rita Krishnan, Ms. Amy Wan Ratos and Ms. Karen Ong.

MIM and SMR selected these 3 topics on:
- Tools - something that trainers require to be continuously thinking of creative and innovative tools to bring out the best in their training
- Trends - highlights the latest developments and trends in training such as global issues, economic and political changes and developments which has an impact on business and ultimately trends in Human Capital Development
- Practices - helps find out how our local & international speakers on training practices which could be relevant to an organisation or set-up.
This fun-filled conference helped participants discover best practices from both local and international HRD practitioners. Furthermore, it was a great platform for all HRM & HRD practitioners to initiate business and knowledge network.
This year MIM celebrates 40 years of delivering management excellence having not only grown in stature and membership support in forty years, but having also established itself as the authoritative voice of management in the country. MIM's national charter and challenges will require it to be innovative and forward looking to prepare Malaysian workers and the present and future generation of
managers to be able to competently handle and manage new dynamic challenges, enabling us to navigate our way to compete successfully and to achieve our Malaysia 2020 vision of becoming a developed nation.
