2007 MOYA Winners' week-long experience visiting Tata Group, India

The 2007 MIM-Public Bank "Manager Of The Year Award" (MOYA) winners visited the Tata Group, one of the top management practitioners in India. The two MOYA 2007 winners, Mr Efffendi Hashim and Dr Sylvia Tan were hosted by Tata Group India for a week's visit to the group's two major companies, Tata Steel and Tata Motors located in Jamshedpur.
The Tata Group is a multinational conglomerate based in Mumbai, India and the largest private company in India in terms of market capitalisation and revenues. The group's business activities include steel, automobiles, information technology, communication, power, tea and hotels. Jamshedpur is the main centre for Tata's activities in Eastern India, where the main plant for Tata Steel and
manufacturing base for Tata Motors are located.
The visit exposed the winners to the companies' operations, values, business strategies, challenges and management practices in their respective industries. This special arrangement has been made possible through the joint sponsorship of the Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO) and the Tata Group.
Organised by the Malaysian Institute Of Management, the MIM-Public Bank "Manager of the Year Award" acknowledges excellent managers who have contributed significantly to their organisations and industry through the practice of exemplary management and leadership skills.
The MIM and Public Bank embarked on this five-year project in 2007 to recognise and acknowledge dynamic managers and management leaders who are the unsung heroes who continue to build Malaysian industries. This joint effort rewards outstanding individuals, who are management leaders and contribute to their respective companies in terms of excellent management, productivity and growth.
