MIM-AAMO Regional Management Forum for CEO's

Kuala Lumpur, 19 April 2008 - The Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) together with Asian Association of Management Organisations (AAMO) and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), Germany organised the MIM-AAMO Regional Management Forum for CEOs at the Management House, Kuala Lumpur on 18 April 2008. This regional forum was organised in conjunction with the AAMO Council Meeting, which
took place from 17-19 April 2008.
The forum, themed "Is Asia's Fast Growth Good and Sustainable?" featured a distinguished panel of speakers representing the national management organisations within the AAMO set up, such as Professor Dr. Ryokichi Hirono of Japan, Dr. Dennis T.L. Sun of Hong Kong, Col.S.C Mohan of India, and Dr. Wilson Tay of Malaysia as well as Dr. Thomas Knirsch, Malaysia Representative to KAS. The forum
was moderated by Dr.Tarcisius Chin, Fellow of MIM.
Approximately 80 participants attended the forum. There were participants from local organisations as well as delegates from India, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Nepal, Cambodia, Singapore and Vietnam
The panel speakers discussed and deliberated on the impact of rapid economic growth on Asian societies, and how social intervention can help to create or maintain the balance between economic success and society's wish for prosperity, peace and harmony.
"Asia has the third largest nominal GDP of all continents, after North America and Europe, but the largest when measured in Purchasing Power Parity (PPP). As of 2007, the largest national economy within Asia, in terms of gross domestic product (GDP), is China followed by India and Japan" said by YBhg Jen Tan Sri Dato' Zain Hashim (b) Chairman, MIM in his welcome address.
MIM's aim is to promote continuous management learning within the Malaysian enterprise, introducing the best in management practices from all corners of the world to our Malaysian companies and building important bridges between the private and public sectors. MIM serves as a platform for the free exchange of management knowledge and experiences.

Management (MIM) inaugurated as a voluntary society on 29 January 1966, the
Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee
on 28 March 1975. As the national management organisation, its primary role is to promote
continuous management skills within the Malaysian enterprise, introducing the best in
management practices from all corners of the world to our Malaysian companies, and
building important bridges between the private and public sectors. Independent,
non-political and non-profit, MIM serves as a platform for the free exchange of management
knowledge and experience, bringing together managers and organisations from all fields of
human endeavour. It is also a development centre committed to enhancing and maintaining

Asian Association of
Management Organisations (AAMO) is a partnership of National Management
Organisations (NMO) in the Asian Region. Its purpose is to share and actively leverage
resources to enhance the achievement of their respective missions. AAMO is an independent,
non-political and not-for-profit Association of National Management Organisations, which
promotes, facilitates and supports the development of professional management in the Asia
Pacific Region. Currently there are 15 members, which include Australia, Hong Kong, India,
Macau, Malaysia, Mauritius, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore,
Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Mongolia and Vietnam. |

Konrad Adenauer
Stiftung (KAS), their international activities aim at supporting democracy and
the rule of law, respecting human rights, furthering mutual understanding, respect,
appreciation and cooperation between different nations, cultures, ethnics and religions,
promoting the unique German concept of social market economy, i.e. a holistic concept of a
sustainable market economy encompassing well-balanced economic, social, ecological and
