Kuala Lumpur (16 May 2008) - Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) organised the MIM Youth Leadership Development Programme (MIM-TRYLA) supported by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) on 9 -15 May 2008 at a training centre in Bangi.
The MIM-TRYLA programme, a fully residential programme, is specially designed to develop young Malaysian men and women between the ages of 21 and 35, with leadership potential and managerial talent to prepare them for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead of the nation. The programme with Vision 2020 as a benchmark was conducted through a series of outdoor activities, lively and
thought-provoking classroom discussions and community services. The programme helped inculcate a responsible attitude and a move towards becoming a more caring society.
Fifty participants came from almost every state in Malaysia participated in MIM-TRYLA this year. Among the interesting activities conducted were sessions by invited speakers, outdoor teambuilding activities, strategy games, leadership exercises, project management planning and management discussions. Participants also took part in a community project at Kampung Beranang, Bangi where they helped
the families in the estate community repair and repaint the community hall, a nursery and an aged lady's house. In this project, the community hall and nursery were also provided with some furniture and children's educational aids and books.
Upon completion of the 7-day programme, the TRYLANs attended the Closing Ceremony Dinner which was held at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The guest of honour, YAB Tun Hajah Rahah bte Tan Sri Mohd Noah, mother to the present deputy prime minister YAB Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak graced the event. Also present were YABhg Tun Hanif Omar, President of MIM, YBhg Tan Sri Osman Cassim, Vice
President of MIM and YBhg Jen. Tan Sri Dato' Zain Hashim (b), Chairman of MIM, together with Dr Thomas Knirsh, country representative of KAS to Malaysia, Fellows and General Council members of MIM and guests of the Institute.
The MIM-TRYLA programme is part of MIM's effort to give back to society. Also featured as part of MIM's corporate social responsibility programmes are two other programmes: MIM Managers' Renewal Programme for mid career managers (MIM-THORA) and MIM Life Enrichment Programme for retiring managers (MIM-RAMLEA), both of which are supported by KAS.
