The MIM-Public Bank "Manager Of the Year Award" 2008 (MOYA)
recognising and honouring Malaysia's finest management practitioners

Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia's finest management practitioners with outstanding management leadership competencies were recognised at the MIM-Public Bank "Manager Of the Year Award" 2008 (MOYA) held at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel today. The Deputy Minister of Human Resource, the Honorable Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan, presented the awards to the winners and the finalists of the prestigious competition.

The two winners were En Noriswadi Ismail from HeiTech Padu Berhad who garnered the "Young Manager of the Year" award while Ms Hor Chee Leng from OCBC Bank (M) Berhad was named "Manager Of the Year". Organised by MIM with the support of Public Bank Berhad, the award aims to recognise and acknowledge dynamic managers and management leaders who are the unsung heroes in building Malaysian industries.

"The applicants of the MIM-Public Bank "Manager Of the Year Award" are required to undergo stringent selection, qualifying and rigorous judging procedures. They are judged on their overall management leadership attributes using work competency profiling tool, management quiz, case study and interview. This stringent protocol is to ensure that winners in each of the categories will be an exemplary management leader, an all rounder practitioner who befits the honour of representing Malaysia's best management practice. The panel judges consist of experienced management leaders who are leaders in their industry and exemplifies excellent management leadership practice," said Dr Wilson Tay, MIM CEO in his briefing.

The MIM CEO Forum was held at the same occasion to provide for an exchange of ideas on current issues relating to the changes and growth of local and global human capital management practices. The Honourable Senator Datuk Maznah Mazlan, delivered the keynote address titled Managing Human Capital in Challenging Times.

"In view of the impending economic recession, corporate, entrepreneurs and employers are faced with many challenges and concerns. This is an opportune time for us to see how we can enhance our Malaysian human capital competence to face the global challenges," said Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar, MIM President in his welcome speech.

Also present at the MIM CEO Forum 2009 and MIM-Public Bank MOYA 2008 Award Presentation Ceremony were YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Teh Hong Piow, the Founder and Chairman of Public Bank Berhad, YBhg Jen Tan Sri Dato' Zain Hashim (b), Chairman of MIM, YBhg Tan Sri Dato' Sri Tay Ah Lek, Managing Director of Public Bank Berhad, Members of the MIM Court of Fellows and General Council and senior management of Public Bank Berhad. More than 300 attendees gathered for the joint event, this include the CEOs, Managing Directors, HR Directors, General Managers and Senior Managers of MNCs, LLCs, government agencies, SMEs, etc.
