KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Institute of Management organised and hosted the MIM High Performance Management Forum on 2 June 2009, Tuesday at MIM Management House, Jalan Ampang, the theme Engaging and Retraining Your People through Learning and Development. The purpose of the forum is to share key concerns, trends and factors influencing present and future human
capital.
Dr. Wilson Tay, CEO of MIM presented the topic, "Managing Your People in Tough Times -
Survival Tips to See You Through", sharing his insights gathered from over 30 years of his career in executive roles in multinationals and large corporations, on how to manage your staff more strategically in these tough times.
"Today, human capital management is widely recognised as a critical success factor for any profitable and sustainable business. In difficult times, the main challenge is not only to survive the crisis but essentially, it is also a matter of managing and investing in the right human capital wisely and strategically preserving the inherent competitive edge that talent offers. Consequently,
organisations are better equipped to not only withstand adversity or uncertainty but also to achieve their key performance indicators (KPIs) convincingly over the long haul", emphasised by Dr. Wilson Tay in his presentation.
He further explained that despite the many concerns faced by entrepreneurs, employers as well as employees, these is an opportune time for all stakeholders to proactively and diligently enhance our Malaysian human capital capability to tackle mounting global challenges. The continuous development of organisational capability and human capital competence will ensure the long-term competitiveness of
organisations, industries and ultimately, the nation.
Mr. Larry Gould, Chief Executive of Australia-wide Business Training who has over 25 years' experience in executive and consultative roles for world large corporations will speak on "New Age Leadership - An Approach to A New Paradigm, What is it really all about?"
"The current economic climate has clearly demonstrated that the old principles and practices associated with business management, leadership and HR will never work again. However, these exciting times are filled with unprecedented opportunities for those organisations that strategically position themselves today for the future. Organisations need to adopt holistic strategies and internal
frameworks that identify and nurture the skills of the next generation of leaders: empower employees, capture and retain the knowledge and insights of experienced managers before they leave the organisation", shared by Mr. Larry Gould.
