The 12th MIM Managers' Renewal Programme (MIM-THORA 2009)

Released by : Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) & Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS)
Date : 13 October 2009

KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) organised the Closing Ceremony Luncheon of the MIM-Managers' Renewal Programme (MIM-THORA) on Tuesday, 13 October 2009 in Kuala Lumpur. The event marked the end of the 12th MIM-THORA programme, a fully residential programme organised by MIM in partnership with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) held from 8 - 13 October 2009.

The MIM-THORA programme aims to provide a journey to human excellence for the participants, so that at the end of the journey, they will renew themselves and redirect their lives to lead a more balanced life through playing an active role towards creating a society imbued with the core human values of caring, respect, integrity and compassion.

This year's MIM-THORA invited speakers from different areas of society such as business and management, social, religion, law, and psychology. The topics addressed ranged from "Corporate Social Responsibility" over "The Need for Value Based Performance Management" to "Family Values". One of the highlights and a crucial part of the programme were the visits to the IKHLAS drop-in centre and the Malaysian Association for the Blind. Aimed at giving the participants an insight into the marginalised parts of society and reminding them of their responsibility as leaders of society, the visits were received very positively and as truly effecting a change in the participant's outlook.

Present at the event were YABhg Tun Hanif Omar, MIM President, Dr Thomas Knirsch, KAS Representative to Malaysia, YBhg Tan Sri Osman Cassim, MIM Vice President, YBhg Jen. Tan Sri Dato' Zain Hashim (b), MIM Chairman, other General Council members of MIM, invited guests and speakers. In his welcome address, YABhg Tun Hanif Omar said "THORANs will apply the insight and experience gained from this six-day programme for the betterment of their own personal development as well as those who are directly and indirectly involved in their lives".

The MIM-THORA programme is part of MIM's effort to give back to society. Also featured as part of MIM's corporate social responsibility are two other programmes: the MIM-Youth Leadership Development Programme (MIM-TRYLA) and the MIM Life Enrichment Programme (MIM-RAMLEA) both of which are tailored for young and senior practising managers respectively.

The MIM-RAMLEA 2009 to be held from 18 - 21 November 2009 is now open for registration. Closing date is on 4 November 2009. For further enquiries, please contact Marketing, Communications & Events Department at Tel: 03 - 2172 5442 or visit www.mim.org.my.
