CPD TALK: Getting Gen X and Gen Y to work together

November 11, 2016 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Take a good look around your department. Who’s that in the cubicles outside your door? Boomers and X-ers and Y-ers. Looks peaceful out there, doesn’t it? Don’t bet on it. There are generational tensions simmering among your employees that threaten to lower morale, increase turnover and hobble the department’s ability to produce wins for the business. We are in the era where three distinct generations of Baby Boomers, Gen-X and Y, all with their own perspective, styles and expectations are working together. These differences often create misunderstandings, stereotypes and conflicts. What used to work in the past no longer works now. Most Baby Boomers are in the age close to retirement. Gen-X is the generation of leaders replacing Baby Boomers and Gen-Y is the fastest growing workforce segment with potential emerging leaders. This will be an inter-active discussion to uncover the differences, dismantle the prejudices and to harness the powers of the experienced Gen X and technologically-savvy Gen Y.
