Sultan Nazrin Graces Malaysian Institute Of Management’s Gala Dinner

KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 (Bernama) — National management organisation, the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), celebrated its 50th anniversary with a royal gala dinner graced by the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim at the Shangri-la Hotel, here tonight.

The event paid tribute to five individuals, whose exemplary leadership had helped deliver sustained success in their respective fields.

The five distinguished individuals – AmBank Group Berhad chairman Tan Sri Azman Hashim, Sunway Group chairman Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah, Ministry of International Trade and Industry secretary-general Tan Sri Dr Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria, Top Glove Corporation Berhad (Top Glove) chairman Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai, and Siemens Malaysia president and chief executive officer Prakash Chandran – received the 2016 Malaysian Leadership Excellence Award at the event.

Also present during the event were MIM president, Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja, Datuk Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Mohd Zahidi Zainuddin, MIM chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Iqbal Rawther, MIM chief executive officer, Sivanganam Rajaretnan and the event’s organising chairman, Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas.

During his welcoming address, Mohammed Hanif said in the designing of its programmes and services, MIM will have to look ahead and anticipate the knowledge, understanding and skills that the organisation needs.

“While we (MIM) work at improving national productivity, innovation and skills, we must also be mindful of the need to embed sustainable development, social responsibility and shared value creation into our (MIM) core curriculum,” he added.

Over the past five decades, MIM has upskilled tens of thousands of executives, managers and leaders through its many training, certification and other affiliated programmes.

In line with the 11th Malaysia plan, MIM believes that they have an important role to play in moving Malaysia towards achieving world-class status, by equipping the present and future workforce with the relevant knowledge and expertise to take on challenging roles in a globalized world.
